Largest River Countertop
Our awesome client in Ohio reached out a few months ago, inquiring about have 3 jet black epoxy resin river with dark walnut for the wood, kitchen countertops.
After months of planning and allowing other projects to be finished and clear up some space, our Ohio project has finally initiated!
3 unique countertops, each one different from the other, and we decided to start this project off with the largest countertop to be the first of the builds.
When it's complete, this monster will land at 118” in length, and at its max width, 57.5”! It’ll without a doubt weigh over 200lbs with the river filled in.
For those of you who don't know how we build these river tops, when it's comes time to pour the river itself, we don't pour one large mass amount, filling the river completely full, like diy videos on YouTube like to showoff.
No, we first pour a thin layer, about 1/4”-1/2” if ultra clear tabletop epoxy, this way the epoxy will seal all those under edges along the live edge of the walnut where we could possibly have a leak if for some reason the caulk along the edges has an opening somewhere on it. Having a full river at once, you not only have more of a potential to have a leak and waste hundreds of dollars in resin, but the slabs themselves can move around and in some cases lift off the base tables surface.
As you can see in these photos, we have our first layer in and since we use tabletop epoxy for this pour, we only need to wayna few hours before it's set up enough to pour in the initial river floods worth of deep pour epoxy resin..
In two hours we’ll mix up 6 gallons of deep pour epoxy resin mixed with EPODEXs jet black pigment paste and will fill this massive river and the fractal figures, well we hope, 6 gallons is what the math calls for but it could very well be more.
We'll post videos of the build as well on our YouTube channel as we go, just search @freshbrewwoodworks or Google us Fresh Brew Woodworks and our social media platforms and YouTube channel wo pop up.
This countertop is by far the largest piece we've done as of today, but…coming soon….a 10'x4' neon yellow conference table…it's next 👍☕🪵
